Local Arts Council Set to Unveil Charlottesville Cultural Plan

The Piedmont Council for the Arts is gearing up to unveil its new cultural plan for Charlottesville during a Monday night ceremony. The cultural plan will focus on six different goals — diversity and inclusion, arts education…

The Piedmont Center for the Arts began the idea of creating a focused cultural plan about this time last year. Despite the fact that Charlottesville is already a great hub for culture and the arts, the thought behind the plan seems to be that a focused goal will help make it even better. NBC News reports:

“Piedmont Council for the Arts Director Sarah Lawson says that while there’s a strong arts community in the region, there’s still room to increase support and funding for it.

‘We see this as a really strong arts community. We think that Charlottesville and Albemarle both have really strong resources and a really vibrant arts culture, but we want to improve that and this is the best way to do that,’ said Lawson.”
